Why Video Is All The Rage

Updated: May 26, 2022

Here at The Marketing Bungalow we love a good video. Whether it be a hilarious TikTok, infographic GIF or a polished video that clearly communicates a brand’s identity. Video is a powerful medium and if used wisely, can amplify your marketing initiatives.

According to Social Media Today, 72% of people prefer to learn about a product or service by watching a video.

Video content not only allows you to capture your audience’s attention, it also offers the room for you to showcase more than what an image or piece of copy can communicate. Videos are known to be a more engaging content type and deserve to be considered as part of your marketing collateral.

Videos don’t just have to be made for social media, a great way to start educating audiences about your products or services is to add a simple explainer video to your website.

A large number of businesses are already using video on their website, in fact, 86% of businesses are already doing so.

How can I use video as a marketing tool you ask? Well, this is where we start to see why video is all the rage. One of the main reasons why team TMB loves to use video media in social media ads is because Facebook allows you to create audiences out of the people who viewed the video. What this means is that a super detailed marketing funnel can be created by showing an informative yet brief video to cold audiences. These exact people can be remarketed to and will move further down your marketing funnel. From here you can also create a lookalike audience to target people who ‘are similar’ to your existing consumers.

Additionally, video is beneficial for its search engine ranking. Encouragingly, Google is 53 times more likely to show your website ranked first if you have video embedded on your website (Social Media Today). Increasing your search engine ranking is always a good thing and you have a relevant branded video you can add to your website, that is a great first step.
